We’re a husband and wife duo based in Sydney’s north-west, in the Hills District. Together, we bring a natural rapport and a blend of perspectives and skills to every shoot. Our approach is relaxed and genuine, allowing you to enjoy the day while we capture authentic, timeless moments.
For many people from India, chaaya (chai) is more than just a beverage; it’s a way of life. It fosters a sense of community and togetherness, turning a simple drink into a catalyst for conversation and sharing stories, strengthening relationships. Shamir Kuruvilla is a Sydney based photographer, filmmaker, broadcast camera operator and editor with a passion for capturing authentic stories and emotions. Before founding Chaaya, he worked for agencies, TV channels and multi-national companies travelling all over Australia and overseas, filming, photographing and editing documentaries, commercials, corporate interviews and global conferences for almost a decade.
Today, he brings that experience and his warm, easy-going personality and creative eye to every project — creating images and videos that feel natural, timeless, and true.
